That’s a new one. There are all kinds of characters in the wrestling world and some of them stand out more than others. Sometimes you see something based on a popular TV show or a movie, but every now or then you see something that is out of the past. These have a tendency to stand out quite a bit, and now we might be seeing the same thing all over again.

Shane Thorne wrestled a dark match before this week’s SmackDown where he debuted a new gimmick. Thorne’s new character is inspired by Crocodile Dundee, a 1986 Australian movie. After his debut, Thorne tweeted out clips from Crocodile Dundee and the Crocodile Hunter, talking about how great the two of them were. Thorne has not wrestled on television since the April 9 SmackDown and there is no word on when he will be returning to WWE television.

It’s a new coat of paint. Check out what Thorne can do when he is given the chance:

Johnny Gargano vs. Shane Thorne: WWE NXT, Oct. 2, 2019

Ricochet & Cedric Alexander vs. Shane Thorne & Brendan Vink: Raw, April 20, 2020

Ricochet vs. SLAPJACK: Raw, Nov. 30, 2020

Opinion: I know it might not be the most inspired idea, but it is the kind of thing that is going to get Thorne noticed. Above all else, Thorne has been doing nothing at all for months now so this is at least a step in the right direction. I’m not sure if this is going to be the next big thing, but I can go with WWE trying something new, just by throwing something at the wall.

What do you think of the new character? How far can Thorne go with it? Let us know in the comments below.
