They’re made to be broken. We are nearly five months removed from WrestleMania 39 and now we are well on the way to WrestleMania 40. That is one of the rare milestone events and as a result, WWE is doing something different with the show. This time around, WWE has opened ticket sales earlier than usual, and now they have done something else for the first time ever as well.

WWE has announced that WrestleMania 40 has already broken the all time gate record for the show. With over 90,000 tickets sold between the two nights of the event, WWE has broken its previous record of $21.6 million set by WrestleMania 39, though they have not announced the current total. Tickets went on sale on August 18 after a presale earlier in the week. WrestleMania 40 takes place at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on April 6 and 7.

Opinion: The interesting thing about a record like this is it will keep climbing as more tickets are sold going forward. WrestleMania is the biggest wrestling event in the world and this is one of the reasons that it feels so important. Bringing in that kind of money for a two day wrestling event is not something that you see elsewhere and WWE has managed to make it even bigger than before.
