It’s certainly unique. Merchandising is something that has gone hand in hand with wrestling for decades now and there is no reason to believe that it is going to change anytime soon. There is something so simple yet easy about buying something with your favorite wrestler’s name or face on it and sometimes the options can get incredibly unique. That is now the case again, though that might not be a good thing.

The Intercontinental Title has long been one of the more important titles in WWE. The title has an incredibly deep history and some of the all time greats have held the championship over the years. That prestige continues to this day, though things have not been as great as they once were. It is to the point now where the reigning champion does not have his own wrestling shirt, but now that has changed…..in a way.

During this week’s SmackDown, Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn complained about not having his own t-shirt design available. Apollo Crews produced a hand drawn shirt with a caricature of Zayn saying “I Am Sami Zayn”. WWE Shop is now selling the shirt at a price of $27.99. The shirt is one of more than ten different Zayn themed shirts currently available.

Can you blame him for being annoyed? Check out how Zayn did after seeing his new shirt:

Opinion: This is something that AEW has popularized lately: having a shirt made of absolutely ANYTHING and really, I can see the idea behind it. These shirts can’t possibly cost that much to make and if there are people out there willing to buy them, why not see if there is some money to be made out of them? I’m sure the wrestlers aren’t going to complain about the extra royalties.
