They’re worth another look. There have been some amazing moments in wrestling history but only some are still going to be remembered decades later. That is task to accomplish but when you find something that really hits that mark, you can absolutely feel it. Such a thing happened twenty five years ago this week and WWE is giving it a special look back all week long.
WWE has announced NWO Week, which will begin on Monday July 5. The week will include new NWO programming on Peacock/WWE Network, including:
- The Best Of The NWO (Tuesday)
- X-Pac on The Bump (Wednesday)
- Kevin Nash on Broken Skull Sessions (Sunday)
NWO week coincides with the debut of the NWO on July 7, 1996, when Hulk Hogan turned on WCW and became Hollywood Hogan at Bash At The Beach 1996. The group went on to dominate WCW for several years before moving on to WWE in 2002. The NWO was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2020.
There is a lot of history here. Check out some of the NWO’s moments:
Opinion: This is the kind of anniversary that you do not get to see very often and it is nice to have it get some special attention. The NWO was a major focal point of the final years of WCW, but it was also a huge part of its success. There are a lot of iconic parts to the team and they deserve the kind of recognition. It is good to see WWE do something like this, and hopefully they make it work well.
