That would be a sigh of relief. There is no secret that WWE is having a lot of issues at the moment and that has been the case for a long time now. The wrestling itself is mostly fine, but there is a problem with the overall presentation, including the way the promos and stories are set up. A lot of this has to do with one particular problem, but it might have been easing up a bit in recent months.

One of the biggest issues that fans have with WWE is their scripted promos. There is only so much that can be done when everything is written out in advance for them, often word for word. It isn’t what the wrestlers want to say, but rather what they have been told to say. That can make it rather difficult for the wrestlers to capture the fans’ imaginations and it is something that many wish would change. They might be getting what they want sooner than later.

Randy Orton was recently a guest on Inside The Ropes and mentioned that his promos are no longer scripted. Orton said that he is given free reign to say what he wants, which included going over his time by about seven minutes earlier this year. Normally this would have resulted in punishment from Vince McMahon, but nothing came of it. There is no word on how many other wrestlers are allowed the same freedom in WWE.

It was a big interview. Check out the full show with Orton:

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that should only mean good results for WWE. I understand not allowing everyone free reign on the microphone as not everyone has that kind of skill. At the end of the day though, there are some wrestlers who can handle the task and they can tell their stories a lot better than a bunch of writers. It is one thing to have people helping, but not everyone needs to be told everything to say. Let the wrestlers do things themselves and see how much better it feels.

What do you think of Orton’s promos? Who else should be given free reign? Let us know in the comments below.
