Don’t get attached to them. NXT is in a weird place as the promotion is designed to be both its own thing as well as WWE’s official developmental promotion. As a result, the show has to find a way to balance out both its present and future, which can mean wrestlers leaving at the drop of a hat. That might be the case again with a good chunk of a current stable who hasn’t been around very long.
According to Fightful Select, WWE is considering bring Marcel Barthel and Gunther of the Imperium stable up to the main roster. This comes after Fabian Aichner walked away from Barthel in a tag match and Gunther lost an NXT Title match this week on NXT. There is no word on when such a promotion might take place or what it means for Aichner’s future, either in NXT or WWE.
Opinion: I don’t think Gunther coming up to the main roster is any kind of a surprise as he has been ready for a main event level spot for the better part of ever. What has me a bit confused is Barthel coming up without Aichner. It isn’t so much that the rest of Imperium is coming up, but the fact that one of them without the other is a little strange. The interesting thing here is Gunther though, as he should be ready to become a major star the second he arrives on Monday Night Raw or SmackDown.
What do you think of the move? How will the two do on the main roster? Let us know in the comments below.
