Add it to the calendar. WWE presents quite a few pay per views every single year and some of them have been around for a long time now. There are some that you know are coming because of the month on the calendar, which has become more and more standard year after year. That seems to be the case again, as WWE wants one of its newest pay per views to have a regular slot.
On Saturday January 1, WWE will present the inaugural Day One pay per view event. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Day One will be a regular pay per view on the WWE schedule regardless of the night of the week. WWE previously presented the New Year’s Revolution pay per view from 2005-2007, though it did not air on January 1. Day One is an idea of WWE President Nick Khan.
WWE has tried some new year’s stuff before. Check out some of its history around the time of the year:
Opinion: I’m not sure how well this is going to work out, but it is certainly a different idea. Then again, I’m not sure how well it is going to work if New Year’s Day falls on a Monday or Friday, as I can’t imagine either network would be thrilled about having a pay per view on the same day. Maybe it will be adjusted to just near the new year, but that might make for a strange show name.
What do you think of the idea? How will it work as a regular event? Let us know in the comments below.
