That explains a few things. Last week was a rather busy time in wrestling but one of the more controversial stories involved WWE banning its wrestlers from third party platforms, possibly including such as Twitch and Cameo, due to an issue over ownership of the names and likenesses. The wrestlers were not happy whatsoever and wanted some more information, which they were given this week.

One of the biggest problems with the entire situation was a lack of clarity. It was not clear who controlled what or who was allowed to appear where. These platforms offer a good bit of money for a lot of wrestlers and they are not going to want to give that up. WWE did not exactly clarity what was going on last week, but they fixed a few things this week before Monday Night Raw.

According to F4WOnline.com, WWE held a meeting before this week’s Monday Night Raw and offered extra details on the new rules. WWE wrestlers will be allowed to continue using their YouTube and Twitch channels but will not be allowed to use their WWE names. They also must inform WWE of all accounts they are associated with while using their real names. There was no mention made of Cameo, but it is unlikely to be allowed in the end.

These people must be happy. Check out some of WWE’s better streamers:

Opinion: I know this isn’t exactly everything that the wrestlers were hoping for but it is better than nothing. It is understandable that WWE would want to protect the names associated with their own shows but it does not look good to flat out tell the wrestlers that they cannot make some money off of their own names and likenesses. The biggest change is answering some questions though, which seemed to be the biggest issues for the wrestlers.
