Card subject to change. Pay per view has long since been the big grand finale for a lot of wrestling storylines as a promotion is going to want to make the most money possible from an angle. You can do a lot of the setup on television but at the end of the day, you want the fans to pay to see either the high points or the big finale. That will not be the case soon, as a plan seems to have been changed.

We are less than a week away from Fastlane and the card was mostly thrown together during this week’s edition of Monday Night Raw. There is still a single SmackDown to go before the pay per view but as of Wednesday afternoon, there are only six matches scheduled for the show. That is not a lot for a regular pay per view, and now they might be down one more.

The official WWE.com preview for Fastlane no longer lists Shane McMahon vs. Braun Strowman, with no reference to the match appearing at all. McMahon vs. Strowman was announced for the show during this week’s Monday Night Raw after the match did not take place as scheduled during the show. WWE has not officially canceled the match and there is no word on why a change may have been made.

They built it in a hurry. Check out how we got to the match:

Shane McMahon gives Braun Strowman a title opportunity: Raw, Mar. 1, 2021

Braun Strowman vs. Shane McMahon: Raw, Mar. 15, 2021

Opinion: This does not bode well as there is a chance the match might be saved for WrestleMania. I have no idea who this is supposed to appeal to as McMahon is being portrayed as the villain despite there being no reason to cheer for Strowman. McMahon has outsmarted him every step of the way and then beat him up on Monday Night Raw. Pouring green slime onto Strowman is not enough of a reason for me to cheer him but I’m not sure if WWE understands that issue.
