Mark your calendars. There are certain wrestling shows that occupy certain times of the year. Some of these have been around for a very long time and can be game changers for a promotion. Most of the time these are special pay per view level cards but sometimes they are an event that takes place for free on television. That seems to be the case again as WWE is getting ready for a special event.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the 2022 WWE Draft will be held either just after Summerslam in August or at some point in September. This would be a change from recent years, as the last three editions have been held in October. There is no word on the details, but the previous two editions have taken place over the course of two nights, with half on Monday Night Raw and half on SmackDown. WWE has not yet announced any plans for this year’s Draft.
Opinion: This is something that can offer a bit of excitement, but you can probably guess some of the moves coming in advance. WWE has a tendency to go a bit overboard with some of the changes and almost just swaps Monday Night Raw for SmackDown in a lot of ways, making the Draft not seem so important. Hopefully they get it right this year, as the Draft can be a very nice change of pace.
