It’s one of the important parts. There are all kinds of things that come together to make a wrestling show work. While the wrestlers themselves are the most important part, commentary plays a very important role as well. They serve as the fans’ guide throughout the show and take the stories where they are supposed to go. Now one of the most important commentary teams will be changing.
According to Variety.com, WWE is making changes to all of its commentary teams. First, Michael Cole and Wade Barrett will be calling SmackDown, with Barrett replacing Corey Graves, who was filling in for Pat McAfee, who is on hiatus. Monday Night Raw will be called by Kevin Patrick and Corey Graves, with Byron Saxton and the returning Cathy Kelley conducting interviews. NXT will be called by Vic Joseph and the returning Booker T, who called Monday Night Raw and SmackDown in the past. Finally, Cole and Graves will call major events together.
Opinion: These might seem like small changes but WWE commentary is one of the most important roles in all of wrestling. Those voices are the oncs that more fans hear than anything else and someone moving in or out of that role is something of a game changer. This is a big set of changes, if nothing else as WWE moves away from the three person booth that they have used for such a long time on Monday Night Raw.
What do you think of the changes? Who should call each show? Let us know in the comments below.
