It’s a unique honor. Wrestlers exist in a weird place when it comes to celebrity status. They are on television almost every week, but even then they are only known as wrestlers. That is not something that lends itself to mainstream exposure, but every now and then you see someone make it over the hill and into the next stage. Sometimes that can come with some unique opportunities and that seems to be the case again.

WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi has announced that he will be starring in his own comic book. The book, titles Kishi and the Island of Dreams, will be released at some point in summer 2022. Rikishi will have a say in the creative direction of the story though he will not be writing it. There is no word on how many issues are planned for the book, which will be produced by AnimeHipHop.

Opinion: This is something that sounds rather cool, though I would be curious to see how long it lasts. Rikishi is someone who was at the peak of his career over twenty years ago and I’m not sure how much of an impact it is going to have. That being said, it is the kind of thing that you do not see very often and it is something that Rikishi can be proud of getting off the ground in the first place.

What do you think of the idea? Which wrestlers would make interesting comic book characters? Let us know in the comments below.
