He could be next. NXT UK has gone from little more than filler programming to something that is rather entertaining more often than not. The United Kingston has some excellent talent out there and some of their bigger names could be some of the stars of the future. That is the kind of thing that makes the promotion thrive and they might have someone else in mind.
There have been a lot of people to wrestle in WWE over the years and some of them have had greater success than others. On occasion, someone who leaves will go somewhere else and improve so much that WWE wants them back. If the wrestler is interested, we could be in for a pretty cool moment, which may be the case again with a third generation wrestler who has gotten a lot better elsewhere.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is interested in bringing Davey Boy Smith to NXT UK to be one of the brand’s bigger stars. Smith Jr. wrestled for WWE under the name DH Smith from 2006 – 2011, mainly in a tag team with Tyson Kidd as the Hart Dynasty. He has since moved on to mainly wrestle in Japan and MLW. Smith Jr. is currently under contract with MLW until December and it is not clear if he would be interested in returning to WWE. He has made some appearances for WWE in recent months as a guest on the After The Bell podcast and will induct his father into the Hall of Fame.
You might remember the team. Check out some of Smith Jr.’s work:
Opinion: This could be interesting and I could go for seeing more of Smith Jr. in WWE. He has gotten a lot better in his time away from the company, especially with his grappling and submission work. If he can get his promo work up to the same level, he could be a heck of a star in NXT UK, or anywhere for that matter. Assuming both sides are interesting, they could both benefit quite a bit here.
