You can’t do that. With the spread of the Coronavirus causing so many changes around the wrestling world, wrestling companies have had to make some changes to keep ends meeting. There are only so many options when there are no fans allowed in the arenas, but WWE has come up with a few other plans to make things work. There is one thing they have yet to do though, and there is a reason for that.

The main method that WWE has used to lower their bills is by outright cutting wrestlers or furloughing producers. That allows them to shed some expenses in a hurry, which is quite the good idea financially. At the same time, various executives and non-wrestling performers have seen their pay cut. So why not combine the two and cut the pay of the active wrestlers?

According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE cannot cut wrestlers’ pay as it would invalidate their contracts, thereby allowing them to go elsewhere, including to AEW. While this may eventually be the case with some undercard talent, it would likely be the last resort and not something that takes place anytime soon. WWE’s main goal is to keep profits high, so such a move is possible in the future if necessary.

WWE has a history with contracts. Check out some of their bigger signings:

Opinion: This makes sense as you don’t want to lose what makes a wrestling company a wrestling company. WWE has the star power to rotate wrestlers in and out for a long time to come and it wouldn’t make sense to lose them for the sake of solving a short term problem. After all of the bragging that WWE has done about their financial status, it would not make sense to mess with a lot of what got them there in the first place.

What can WWE do to keep their financial status? Will more wrestlers be cut? Let us know in the comments below.
