It’s more work. There have been a lot of controversies in WWE over the last few years and a lot of them have to do with WWE exerting power over its wrestlers. Several stories have shown that WWE exerts every bit of control that they can over the roster, even when it comes to situations outside of the ring. That is the case again, and now it is with one of the company’s bigger side projects.
Fightful Select is reporting that Xavier Woods makes little to no additional money from his work on the UpUpDownDown Youtube channel or his work with G4. Instead, WWE applies both of these jobs towards Woods’ downside guarantee, meaning that they are treated the same as Woods’ time in the ring. Woods has never owned the channel and it took a “long time” to get off the ground in the first place. There is no word on what would happen to Woods’ involvement with either project should he leave WWE.
The channel is quite fun. Check out some of its content, plus Woods in his more familiar role:
Opinion: This seems to be the latest example of WWE making it clear that they are in charge and the wrestlers are just lucky enough to be there. Woods had an idea to get content out there and now WWE controls everything, including the majority of the money it brings in. I would say I’m surprised, but this is what WWE does. It might be legal, but it hardly makes them look good, which has been the case time after time again.
What do you think of Woods’ deal? What is next for him in WWE? Let us know in the comments below.
