Welcome home. The Coronavirus has changed the way wrestling works as any absence immediately turns into a question mark. Why is someone missing? Have they caught the virus? When will they be back? Has anyone else gotten sick? It is a total can of worms these days and that is not likely to change in the near future. Now though, we have someone coming back instead of going away.
Even though there are a ton of them in WWE, champions still mean a lot to the company. It really is the easiest idea in all of wrestling: a wrestler has a big shiny belt and someone else wants to take it from them. That is as easy of a concept as you are going to find in wrestling and WWE knows how to make it work most of the time. Hopefully that is the case again this week.
The official WWE.com preview for this week’s Monday Night Raw includes Apollo Crews making his return to defend the United States Title against MVP. This marks Crews’ first match since the June 29 Monday Night Raw though there is no word why he missed so much time. Crews was scheduled to defend the title against MVP at Extreme Rules but did not make the event, with WWE saying he had suffered a back injury suffered at the hands of Bobby Lashley.
It worked well enough the first time. Check out how their previous match went:
Opinion: It’s good to see Crews back as he has missed a good deal of time. It would have been a shame to see him lose his title over something like an injury or some kind of health issue as this has been the biggest break of his career. Hopefully everything is back to normal now as he can be rather entertaining when he is given the chance. MVP can help him do that and this could be a rather nice match.
How do you see the match going? What is next for Crews? Let us know in the comments below.
