Time to play catch up. One of the problems, and it’s one of the very few, with NXT is that things are on a delayed time scale. With the show being taped so many weeks in advance, it can often take time to catch up with the things that happen in the real world. That includes injuries, which are never good in the first place and they’re even worse when they have bad timing. That’s the case we’re dealing with now, as a champion is injured and coming up on one of the biggest title defenses they have.

There’s nothing good about this.

Bobby Fish suffers a knee injury at NXT Live Event: NXT Exclusive, April 1, 2018

WWE.com has confirmed that NXT Tag Team Champion Bobby Fish has suffered a knee injury at a live event. This injury has since been announced as a possibly torn ACL, which would put Fish on the shelf for several months. The injury actually took place a few weeks back but since Fish has appeared on “NXT” since, it wasn’t officially announced until this weekend. At the moment, Fish is scheduled to defend the titles along with Kyle O’Reilly against the winners of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic at NXT “Takeover: New Orleans”. WWE has not announced how the plans will change.

Opinion: Well dang. There’s no easy way around an injury like this and it couldn’t have come at a worse time. Fish and O’Reilly are starting to click as a team and it’s a shame that he can’t compete for a very long time. The good thing is Adam Cole is still available and has teamed with O’Reilly before to great success of their own. It’s unfortunate that Fish is injured, but at least there’s a silver lining to the injury. Just having Cole and O’Reilly as a regular team going forward will be just fine and Fish can be added to the team again when he’s healed up.

How should WWE handle this? Will Cole and O’Reilly be successful as a team? Let us know in the comments below.
