That would explain a few things. There have been all kinds of changes in WWE as of late and not all of them have been for the better. A lot of wrestlers have left the company and it seems that even more could be on the chopping block in the future. One of the more interesting situations was that of Adam Cole, as neither WWE nor Cole knew when his contract expired. There is a bit more to it than that.

A story came out earlier this week that Kevin Owens’ WWE contract was expiring sooner than expected. According to Fightful Select, Owens’ contract was one of several which were shortened in exchange for higher guaranteed money. However, in this case WWE knew that the changes had been made and the earlier expiration date did not come as a surprise to the company.

This comes after Cole’s contract expired than expected and is said to be blamed on people “falling asleep at the wheel”. As a result, several WWE contracts have been reviewed so the company knows when they will expire. The NXT contracts are said to be a more complicated situation than several main roster deals, which were personally discussed with Vince McMahon himself.

This could get complicated in a hurry. Check out who might be going somewhere and who already has:

Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens - Universal Title Steel Cage Match: SmackDown, Dec. 25, 2020

Adam Cole vs. Daniel Bryan – NXT Championship Match: SmackDown, Nov. 1, 2019

FULL MATCH - Finn Bálor vs. Pete Dunne - NXT Title Match: NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day

Opinion: This is one of the bigger issues that seems to be taking place in WWE: a complete lack of communication behind the scenes. It feels like there are so many different people going in a bunch of different directions and that is a huge problem. I’m not sure how it can be fixed, but the company needs to get a lot more organized in a hurry before they have another Cole situation on their hands.

What does this say about WWE? Who is the next big name to leave the company? Let us know in the comments below.
