The holiday special. We are coming up on Christmas Day and that means things are wrapping up for the year. It is probably the biggest holiday in the country and one of the biggest days of the year for a lot of people. That includes wrestling companies, which have had a history of running major shows on Christmas night. WWE is going to be doing it again and they have a stacked card this year.
Tables, Ladders And Chairs has come and gone and that means it is time to get ready for the Royal Rumble and therefore the Road To WrestleMania. Things are about to get a lot more interesting in a hurry, but at the same time, there is still a bit of fallout to deal with first. That will be the case this week on SmackDown, which will have a pair of major matches.
WWE has announced a pair of title matches for this week’s SmackDown. During Tables, Ladders And Chairs, an Intercontinental Title match was announced with Big E. challenging Sami Zayn. Then on Monday, a rematch for the Universal Championship was announced with Roman Reigns defending against Kevin Owens. The Reigns vs. Owens match will take place inside a steel cage.
It’s going to be a big one. Check out how we got to both title matches:
Opinion: That’s the kind of show you don’t get to see very often and I can understand why WWE would want to put on this kind of a card on Christmas night. As Fritz Von Erich once said, once you’ve opened the presents, what is there to do all day? I could see the Intercontinental Title changing hands, and while Owens isn’t going to win the Universal Title, they could have a heck of a fight.
What are you expecting from the show? Will either title change hands? Let us know in the comments below.
