Fill in. Commentary is one of the most important parts of any wrestling show as the commentary team is asked with guiding the fans in the direction the company wants them to go. That can work in a variety of ways, with the right people being necessary to make everything work. It can be a big deal when a broadcast team changes, and that will be th case in the short term next week
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Former WWE Superstar Makes Surprise Return At NXT Live Event After Three Year Hiatus
This week on SmackDown, Wade Barrett announced that he will be filling in for Pat McAfee as color commentator next week on Monday Night Raw. McAfee will be away for the week as he is scheduled to call the NCAA National Championship game on ESPN. This announcement comes amid issues between Corey Graves and WWE, who was not present for this week’s NXT after returning to the show last week.
Barrett should be fine. Check out his work on this week’s SmackDown:
Opinion: This is the kind of move that makes sense for WWE, but it does bring up the question of whether Graves could have been used in the spot had it not been for this week’s mess. At the end of the day, he is perfect for the show and has chemistry with Michael Cole, but instead it’s a double shot of Barrett. That isn’t a bad thing as Barrett is rather good, but this suddenly has some more layers than it would have just a few days ago.
