On his own. Stables are one of the most useful concepts that you will see in wrestling, as they allow all kinds of people to get to do their thing at once, allowing the company to save a lot of time and effort. Various stars have gotten quite a bit of success as a result of their time in a stable, but now one star seems ready to move on from his stable and try something fresh.

According to Xero News on Twitter, Butch is expected to split off from the Brawling Brutes soon and return to his Pete Dunne name, while turning heel in the process. There is no word on if Butch will be feuding with the Brutes after the split. Butch wrestled under the name Dunne in NXT and NXT UK before becoming Butch on the main roster. There have been rumors of Triple H wanting to bring back the Dunne moniker for several months.

It has worked by either name. Check out Butch as both Butch and Dunne:

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that probably needs to take place, as there is little reason to keep Butch in his current state when the Dunne persona/name was far more successful in the first place. WWE has already started shifting Butch back towards the Dunne persona over the last few months so it isn’t like this is going to be some big, jarring twist. Hopefully it all works out and we could be in for something rather special.
