WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Planning Special Addition To Major Summerslam Match

Some of them have been done over and over throughout the years and they still work time after time. That is what we might be seeing again at one of the biggest shows of the year in a match that would already be quite big.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is planning to add a special guest referee to one of the matches on the Summerslam card. According to WrestleVotes, the plan is to have Seth Rollins referee the match between Drew McIntyre and CM Punk. While Punk has yet to be officially cleared, he is expected to be cleared by the Monday before Summerslam, on July 19.

Opinion: While I would have bet on Dominik Mysterio as guest referee for Liv Morgan vs. Rhea Ripley, this makes quite a bit of sense as well. Rollins has been just on the outskirts of the feud and while I could go for a straight match on their first time out, this has the potential to be a big deal. It’s something that makes sense, which is often the key to any good gimmick match.
