That’s a big one. There are all kinds of matches in any given week for WWE and it can be difficult to find something that feels like something special. The biggest matches available tend to be saved for the bigger events and those are the ones that make the biggest impact. Now WWE seems to have its sights set on running one of the biggest matches possible in a short span.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: They Had Options: WWE Had Multiple Ideas For Bray Wyatt At WrestleMania 39
WWE has announced that John Cena will be appearing on SmackDown on a regular basis through the end of October. According to WRKD Wrestling, WWE has considered running a match between Cena and Cody Rhodes at some point during Cena’s current WWE run. Cena and Rhodes have not had any major interactions since Cena’s return to WWE. Following this weekend’s Payback event, WWE’s next major event will be Fastlane on October 7.

It could be special. Check out what the two have been doing lately, plus a previous match:
Opinion: It makes sense for WWE to want to present a match like this when they have the chance. Rhodes is pretty clearly one of if not the top singles stars in WWE and giving him a win over someone the caliber of Cena would be a major moment. At the very least, it would give Fastlane some much needed star power, as that isn’t the biggest show that WWE is going to be presenting otherwise.
