He’s earned it. Roman reigns is rapidly racking up one WWE record and milestone after another, as he approaches three years as WWE Universal Champion. According to WrestleVotes by way of GiveMeSport, Reigns is expected to take a “significant break” from WWE after WrestleMania, possibly lasting all the way to Summerslam. However, this would be contingent on Reigns losing the title at WrestleMania 39, which is not a certain plan. Reigns has already begun working a relaxed schedule and only working major live events and select television shows.
Adding to this: I’m told this is contingent on if / when Reigns eventually loses the titles. As of now, those plans are not certain. https://t.co/ZhVALxMdst

Reigns is a different kind of champion. Check out some of his title defenses:
Opinion: This shouldn’t be much of a surprise, as the pressure of being World Champion led to Bruno Sammartino needing a break and now that might be the case for Reigns. At the same time, if WWE wants the next champion to feel like a bigger deal, Reigns needs to be gone so the shadow can go away. Then again, maybe Reigns keeps the title and none of this matters, which would be very interesting.
