There’s a reason for that. WWE is less than a week away from its Payback event, which will be held on Saturday, September 2. That is the kind of show that gets most of WWE’s attention at the moment, but there are other shows to get ready for that come later. WWE has already started making preparations, and now we know what is behind some of WWE’s planning for the other show.

Last week on Monday Night Raw, Chad Gable defeated Intercontinental Champion Gunther via countout, marking Gunther’s first loss on the main roster of any kind. On this week’s show, a rematch between the two was announced for the September 4 Monday Night Raw. According to Better Wrestling Experience by way of Cagesideseats.com, the match was left off the Payback card as WWE COO Triple H does not want Payback, or shows like it, to be overloaded.

It has been a big feud. Check out what the two of them have done so far:

Opinion: That is the kind of logic that it is nice to see in WWE. In addition to taking some of the pressure off of the Payback card so that it does not feel overloaded, it is nice to see WWE looking at the future instead of right now. There are other shows other than the major events, and it makes sense to see them go in this direction instead. Now just have a good match between the two and everything will work.
