That’s a different way to present things. Professional wrestling has been around for a very long time now and you can see it take place in all different forms. The style that was popular in the early days of wrestling is quite different than what we see today, which doesn’t even include all of the style changes along the way. Now though, we might be seeing something that has never been done before, even in wrestling.

Aro Lucha, a lucha libre promotion, has announced that it will stop producing live wrestling events and move towards an animation project instead. In an announcement to its current investors, courtesy of Fightful Select, the company spoke about their decision, citing the Coronavirus pandemic, the market opportunity of the animation industry and the growing Latino and Hispanic market. The company has already begun working on the untitles animated series. Aro Lucha ran four events in Texas and Tennessee in December 2017 and January 2018, with most of its wrestlers now being signed elsewhere.

Opinion: If you get out of the business of producing wrestling events and move into the business of creating animation, are you still a wrestling promotion? Aro Lucha is hardly a promotion that made an impact in the first place, as it only ran a few events which didn’t quite get that much coverage. I’m assuming this had to be done for the sake of the investors, but it is still quite the jarring twist.
