At the last second. WWE has a lot of things going on at any given time and they are rarely going to get everything right. That may not be the most popular reality but unfortunately it is the way things work for the company. Sometimes you see something that makes very little sense no matter how WWE presents it, which is what seemed to happen this weekend at WrestleMania.

This weekend, WWE presented its annual biggest show of the year with WrestleMania 37. As usual, the show features the most stacked card of the year with one major match after another. You will often see stories and rivalries come to an end at the show, which can lead to some interesting moments. That was the case this year as well, but one of the stories was changed at the last second.

According to Fightful Select, the original plan for the Fiend vs. Randy Orton match called for the Fiend to win, though Orton wound up winning the match. The match was always planned to be a singles match rather than having any form of a gimmick. The original plan for the ending was also designed to take Orton off of television for an extended period of time, though Orton appeared on the following night’s Monday Night Raw. Vince McMahon and Bruce Prichard chose the new finish, which saw Alexa Bliss distract the Fiend so Orton can win. Management was said to be happy, though the wrestlers were confused by the finish.

The match was certainly different. Check out how it went:

Opinion: The ending was one of the more confusing results that I have seen from WWE in a very long time and I can’t blame the wrestlers for being a bit surprised. The story seemed to call for the Fiend to destroy Orton once and for all but instead it was Orton winning the match in less than six minutes. That is quite the twist, and that is not always a great thing as WWE has proven before.
