It could have been worse. A lot of things happen in the wrestling world every day and some of them are a lot more serious than others. Unfortunately there are going to be a few things that are absolutely horrible and serious, including those involving someone’s health. That was the case with a recent incident, and now fans are being asked to help with the situation.
Over the weekend, a referee was stabbed by a wrestler during the World Class Revolution “Christmas Star Wars” event in Irving, Texas. The match’s original plan did call for the wrestler, Devon Nicholson, to attack the referee, Lando Deltoro, but the situation went further than planned. According to fellow referee Colby Cowperwaithe (who was at the event but not the attacked referee) via Reddit, Deltoro was supposed to cut himself, but his blade did not work. Instead, Nicholson cut Deltoro but went far too deep and cut Deltoro’s artery. Cowperwaithe also believes that Nicholson was intoxicated during the match.
In addition, Fightful has more on the story, including details from wrestlers on the show. Another wrestler, Clayton Bloodstone, said that Nicholson did not seem to care about what happened to Deltoro and treated it like it wasn’t a big deal. Another anonymous wrestler said that booker Eric Embry and Kevin Sullivan showed a lack of empathy over the situation. Finally, commentator Brittani Nikole Houghtlen said that Nicholson left the ring but got back in to stab Deltoro again. Nicholson was also spoken to by police but left before the wrestlers could get to it. There is no word on any possible legal action against Nicholson.
Deltoro has posted some images of his injuries to Twitter, which are graphic:
Hey @TheHannibalTV you can block me on Facebook but it stop me from sharing what you did to a referee.
We put our bodies on the line for this business and you took advantage of that on someone not trained to defend themselves.
Get the word out and get him out of our business!! pic.twitter.com/So1Q29fgu4

Recovering at home, still a big fuzzy and pain, yes lots of pain. But I’ll live. Thanks you all for out pouring of love and support .
I am a firm believer that if you put good out into the world, good will return to you #downbutnotout pic.twitter.com/0bE71rWbtP— Lando Deltoro God’s perfect idiot (@Elcucuyfeo) December 13, 2021
Referees can fight back when they need to. Check out some of their better moments:
Opinion: What in the world are you supposed to say to something like this? It seems like a wrestler lost his mind due to being drunk and attacked a referee. If that is the case, I would certainly hope that he is never allowed to wrestle again, but you never know about the wrestling business. This is one of the more violent moments you’ll see in wrestling and it’s about as disturbing as you can get.
What should happen to Nicholson? Who is your favorite referee? Let us know in the comments below.
