The first battle. One of the most anticipated nights of the wrestling year came and went on Wednesday with the debut of AEW Dynamite vs. the first full two hour NXT broadcast on USA. While the original night was interesting, the next day may have been more important. The question became which show drew a bigger audience and now we know who won the first night.
According to Wrestlinginc.com, the debut episode of Dynamite drew 1.4 million viewers, compared to 891,000 for NXT, meaning Dynamite won the night by 58%. In addition, Dynamite drew a .68 rating in the 18-49 demo, compared to NXT’s .32 rating in the same demo, good for a 112.5% win. That rating puts it above last week’s SmackDown and the audience is the highest for a non-Monday Night Raw or SmackDown since the April 10, 2014 Impact Wrestling.
There was a lot on NXT last night. Check out one of the big moments that people missed:
Opinion: This is one of those situations where you take your hat off to them for sure, but also keep a few factors in mind. Last night was the premiere and they are going to have to keep those fans around. Second, how many people are going to be brought back to NXT after what they offered? Either way, this is hitting it so far out of the park for AEW that it isn’t even funny so we can save the questions for the time being. Those are incredible numbers and they deserve all the credit in the world for having so much success.
