That came out of nowhere. An injury can change a wrestler’s career overnight and it can do so in a big way. There is no such thing as being immune to them either and at times it isn’t clear how bad things are for a good while. Sometimes you have no idea how long someone might be out of action, which has been the case for an AEW star. Now we know a bit more about what happened.
One of the biggest angles from last week’s AEW Beach Break special was the wedding of Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford. It had all kinds of regular wrestling wedding tropes, including someone interrupting at the end. That was Orange Cassidy in this case, which did not sit well with Sabian. In theory that should set up a match between them, but there might be something holding that back.
According to Fightful Select, Sabian has been out of action with an injury since December but has been featured on television in angles without wrestling. There is no word on what kind of injury Sabian has or when he will be back in the ring. Sabian’s most recent match was a battle royal on the December 2 edition of Dynamite, with his most recent singles match on the November 18 episode.
Sabian can do other things. Check out how the wedding went:
Opinion: This is the kind of thing you might not have noticed and it’s a shame as Sabian has come a long way in recent months. At the same time though, it’s great that he has been able to be on television in some kind of an angle to keep things moving. AEW has done a lot of good things in their still limited history and it is great to see that they know how to keep things from coming to a grinding halt.
