Back and forth? There have been a variety of changes taking place in WWE’s television in recent months as the three main television shows are all moving to new platforms. One of those moves has already taken place with two more to come. Some of these changes involve changes to the shows themselves and now we might be getting ready to see another change to one of the biggest shows.

Last week, a rumor began to circulate saying that SmackDown would expand to three hours in January, with an update saying that while the change was coming, it would only last for six months. According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, a third hour of SmackDown is not confirmed yet but is still in negotiations. Meltzer said it is “better than 50 percent chance” that the third hour could be added, with WWE wanting more money from NBCUniversal to make it happen. SmackDown moved to USA earlier this month after a five year run on FOX.

Opinion: I could absolutely see this taking place and it is something that makes sense. Having Monday Night Raw be three hours while SmackDown is two hours was always a bit odd and it would not surprise me to see it get shaken up. If nothing else, I’m sure WWE will never be turning down the idea of increasing the money they get from the show, which is entirely the point of the company.
