He has a reputation. Last month, AEW announced that Ric Flair had been signed to the company on a multi-year deal. The announcement was met with some trepidation, as Flair has a history of actions and statements that can get him in trouble over the years. It seems that might have been the case again, though this time AEW has a way to avoid fans from seeing the situation.

According to Cagesideseats.com, Flair is set to appear on this week’s AEW Rampage, which was taped in advance. Flair was in the ring for a promo with Sting when he invited all of the women in the audience ages 18-28 to join him in his hotel room. He also said “no boyfriends or husbands”. There is nothing to suggest Flair will be punished for the statement, which is expected to be edited from the show. Flair has since posted a tweet which may be referencing the backlash to the issue.

Flair has had some better times in AEW. Check out a fan video of some of the promo (which does not contain the hotel line), plus Flair’s other times elsewhere:

Opinion: This is just kind of what Flair does and while it isn’t the worst thing, it is another thing that AEW has to work around. Flair has been saying something like this for years and was probably saying it for a nice reaction, but it is a little much given some of his issues over the years. Flair was not the most popular signings and this is the kind of thing that is not going to make it much better.
