Someone has to go first. Just over a week ago, Becky Lynch defeated Charlotte and Ronda Rousey to become the new Raw and SmackDown Women’s Champion. More importantly than that though, she because the official face of the women’s division, with nothing else standing in front of her. That’s only half of the battle though, as she now has to defend the titles. Now we know who is up first.
This week on Monday Night Raw, Lacey Evans defeated Natalya to become the new #1 contender for the Raw Women’s Title. Evans announced that she was officially on Monday Night Raw, meaning that she will not be challenging for the SmackDown Women’s Title at the moment. There is no word on when Evans will be receiving her shot at the title or if Lynch will be defending the SmackDown Women’s Title before Evans gets her shot.

This isn’t the biggest surprise. Check out Evans attacking Lynch last week on SmackDown Live:

Opinion: This makes perfect sense as someone has to be Lynch’s first victim. WWE isn’t going to take the title off of her mere weeks after she won the things and Evans is fine as someone to challenge for one of the titles. I’m not sure how wise it is to have Lynch defend both titles though, as it’s a great way to have her get overexposed in a hurry. Without major villains, it’s not going to be able to last that long.
