That would be different. There are all kinds of different aspects that come together to make a wrestler into a star. This includes a mixture of the right look, character and more, including their ring names. Some wrestlers stick with one name for a good chunk of their careers, but that does not mean chases cannot be considered. That seems to have been the case for a wrestling legend.

During a recent edition of The Extreme Life Of Matt Hardy, Matt Hardy revealed that WWE considered pairing Matt Hardy with Chavo Guerrero and changing Hardy’s name to, as Hardy described it, “a more Hispanic-based name”. This would have been part of a new character for Hardy. The name change did not take place and Hardy eventually became Matt Hardy Version 1, which Vince McMahon began to like more.

Opinion: This is another good example of an idea that might have sounded good for all of a minute before thankfully people came to their senses. Hardy has been around for a long time and people know who he is. It wouldn’t make sense to change that up as it would have just been a switch for the sake of a switch. That rarely works out in wrestling and thankfully WWE did the right thing.
