That could help. After a few weeks of hype, NXT revealed the Return, which wound up being the returning Elias Samson, who missed several months due to an ankle injury. Samson sang a quick song about returning before winning a squash match. Corey Graves ripped him apart during commentary, which leaves Samson’s status as a face or a heel in potential uncertainty.

Samson was starting to find himself in NXT before his injury with his biggest feud being with Apollo Crews, who defeated him before “Takeover: Dallas”. The injury sidelined him for several months and stripped him of his momentum but he’s back with what seems to be the same character before he was put on the shelf.

Samson being back is a nice addition to the roster which is suddenly riddled by injuries. With Hideo Itami and Austin Aries out for the foreseeable future, there’s a very nice spot in the middle of the card for someone like Samson to come in and get a good push for himself. He’ll need to get a better finisher but the tools are mostly there.
