Last weekend, AEW presented its annual Forbidden Door event. One of the featured matches on the show saw AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone defeat Stephanie Vaquer to win the New Japan Strong Women’s Title, becoming a double champion. According to PWInsider.com by way of Cagesideseats.com, the match has received internal praise, with Vaquer being credited with getting over with the live crowd. Mone reportedly wanted to “make” Vaquer during the match. There is no word on when or if Vaquer will wrestle for AEW again.

Opinion: This shouldn’t be the biggest surprise, as the match was one of the better things on the card. Vaquer was only barely known in AEW when she came into Forbidden Door and needed a boost from Mone to make it work out this well. At the same time, Mone held up her side in the match as well. It was quite the display and that is exactly what it needed to be and more.
