That’s a long time. Holing a championship for an extended period of time can make things rather interesting. The longer the reign goes, the more intriguing a title match can be as the drama over whether this is it or not can become fascinating. WWE is now having a rather long title reign and a major milestone has been reached, with the company taking a look at what has been going on.

As of Saturday May 27, Roman Reigns has been the Universal Champion for 1,000 days. This makes his title reign the sixth all time to reach the milestone, following (in descending order) Bruno Sammartino, Bob Backlund, Hulk Hogan, Bruno Sammartino and Pedro Morales. WWE has released a video looking at the milestones of Reigns’ time as champion, which began on August 30, 2020.

Opinion: This is one of the biggest things you’ll see from WWE in a good while, as it takes a long time to get anywhere near this kind of run with the title. Reigns is pretty easily going to surpass Morales and the second Morales reign isn’t out of the question. He could go on for a long time to come and I’m curious to see just how long the whole thing goes. The story is still working, but we might be heading towards the downside of everything.
