Two for one. There are all kinds of championships in wrestling and it can be a big deal when a wrestler picks up a new one. This might be something they are doing for the first time or something that they are doing again, but it is still an important moment no matter what. That was the case this week, as two new champions were crowned while only one lost the gold.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Not For Long: Update On Roman Reigns’ WWE Status Following WrestleMania 40
This weekend at WrestleMania 40, the Judgment Day defended their Undisputed Tag Team Titles in a six way ladder match. However, the two sets of titles (Monday Night Raw and SmackDown) were above the ring and both had to be pulled down before the match ended. The result saw Austin Theory and Grayson Waller win the SmackDown Tag Team Titles while Awesome Truth won the Raw Tag Team Titles. This ends the belts’ split which started back in May 2022.
It was crazy. Check out the match plus the fallout:
Opinion: WWE had been teasing such a change going into the match but then they actually went through with it here. That makes things all the more interesting as we now have two sets of champions rather than Judgment Day holding all of the gold. This is something that WWE has gone back and forth on over the years and now we know what we are seeing again, which should be a good thing.
