They’re worthy too. There are all kinds of accomplishments and championships in WWE but the vast majority do not last forever. At some point, everyone is going to lose a title, meaning that they join a long list of former champions. There is however one major accomplishment that never goes away and WWE awards it to some people with no history in the company.

The WWE Hall of Fame is one of the most prominent halls of fame in the wrestling world. There have been all kinds of stars inducted since 1993 and most of them have been part of the WWE family. However, there are a lot of wrestlers who have spent their careers outside of the company. Those wrestlers deserve recognition of their own and now some more of them are receiving it.

During this week’s WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony for the classes of 2020 and 2021, new, surprise Legacy Wing inductees were announced. The 2020 Legacy Wing inductees include:

  • Ray Stevens
  • Brickhouse Brown
  • Steve Williams
  • Baron Michele Leone
  • Gary Hart

And the 2021 inductees:

  • Dick the Bruiser
  • Pez Whatley
  • Ethel Johnson
  • Buzz Sawyer
  • Paul Boesch

The Legacy Wing of the WWE Hall of Fame began in 2016 and honors wrestlers from earlier generations. These wrestlers are recognized with a video package but no speech is given in their honor.

These are two strong classes. Check out how they were honored:

Opinion: I’m not sure why the Legacy Wing needs to exist, but it is nice to see some of these names honored. At the same time, it would make sense to have them inducted into the regular Hall of Fame, but that might suggest that it is more of a Hall of Fame than a way to add another WWE television show during their biggest time of the year. It is nice to see something like this, but it seems to be a bit more complicated than it needs to be.
