WATCH: WrestleMania 40 Main Event Changed At Press Event, Major Fireworks And A New Alliance Teased

That’s one way to go. We are about two months away from WrestleMania 40 and that means it is time to start getting the card together. WWE has already started setting things up, but there are still two major matches that need to be set for the show. In theory one of those has been set up, as WWE held a major WrestleMania main event with some rather large fireworks.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Who Needs Him? Seth Rollins On The Rock: “We Don’t Need You Big Guy.”

WWE held its WrestleMania 40 press event this week with Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes, The Rock, WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins in attendance. Reigns said that he wanted to face the Rock, which led to the two of them talking about the Anoa’i Family tree and teasing their match.

Rhodes then came out and said that he would be challenging Reigns, leading to an argument between Rhodes and Rock/Reigns over their families. Rock slapped Rhodes and the two had to be separated before Reigns and Rock left together. For the moment, Reigns vs. Rhodes is set for WrestleMania, though there is still a chance the match could change.

Opinion: This was a fascinating sequence and shows you how well things can be changed with the right people in the right place. I don’t think it was the plan from the beginning, but it does feel like something WWE had in its back pocket in case things went bad with Rock vs. Reigns. At the same time, we have fifty eight days left before WrestleMania and that is a very long time to change things up again.
