Call it a loan? There are all kinds of wrestling promotions around the world and some of them have quite the talented roster. Now we are going to get to see just how one of those bigger stars can do against an up and coming WWE star.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Merry Christmas! Former WWE Superstar Reveals Birth Of Her First Child

All Japan Pro Wrestling has released a video showing WWE executive William Regal announcing that NXT’s Charlie Dempsey will be challenging for the All Japan Triple Crown Heavyweight Title on January 3 in Tokyo, Japan. Dempsey will be challenging whomever holds the title following Katsuhiko Nakajima’s defense against Kento Miyahara on December 31. This will be Dempsey’s first match in All Japan. Of note: the video features Regal publicly announcing that Dempsey is his son for the first time.

This is a different one. Check out the announcement, plus Dempsey in WWE:

Opinion: I’m not sure why this is happening but it’s certainly interesting to see WWE working with a big time Japanese promotion. Having Regal in more of an official role like this is different and it wouldn’t surprise me to see it happen more often in the near future. For now though, it’s something I didn’t see coming and we should be in for a special moment, if not the start of something even bigger.

What does this mean for WWE? How will the match go? Let us know in the comments below.
