This weekend will see the return of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event after an eight year hiatus. Previous reports have said that WWE is hoping to have an old school, nostalgia feeling to the show, including various legends appearing. WWE has released a video showing Triple H offering WWE Champion Cody Rhodes a gift, saying it is for one night only. The case appears to be the size of a title belt, leading to speculation about the return of the “Winged Eagle” title design. Rhodes has been talking about bringing the title back but nothing has been confirmed. The “Winged Eagle” has not been used since 1998.

Opinion: This is something interesting and could be quite the special moment for fans who grew up with that title. It is the championship that was won throughout the end of the 1980s and most of the 1990s with some of the biggest names in wrestling history holding it over the years. If WWE wants Saturday Night’s Main Event to be a nostalgia themed show, this would go a very long way towards making that happen.
