WATCH: Tony Khan Assaulted In Surprise Attack To End AEW Dynamite

That’s new. AEW has come a long way in its still relatively short existence and a good bit of their success is due to owner and President Tony Khan. While Khan is the financial backer of the company, he rarely gets involved with on-screen storylines or angles but when he does, it feels important. That was the case again this week, in a way that he has never done before.

The end of this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite saw Khan in the ring with Jack Perry, who was hoping to be reinstated. The two shook hands before Perry hit Khan in the ribs, knocking him down. Perry’s friends the Young Bucks then came to the ring and gave Khan a Tony Khan Driver before laving. Khan’s father Shad came to the ring to check on him to end the show. This was the first time that Tony has gotten physical in any way in AEW.

Opinion: I had to sit and think about this one for a good while after the show was over as I’m really not sure what is going on. The fans seem to like Perry following the CM Punk footage from a few weeks ago but then this was about as evil of a move as you could ask. I’m not sure where it is going and that makes things all the more interesting, though AEW needs to proceed with caution here as it could go bad in a hurry.
