And new! Title changes can be a huge moment in any wrestler’s career as it marks the beginning of a new era for them. This is even more true when it is a wrestler’s first title win, especially a top championship. You never know when you are going to see a surprise title change, which was the case this weekend in a rather fluky ending to a big time championship match.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Adam Pearce Fines CM Punk & Drew McIntyre, Suspends McIntyre

The main event of NXT Heatwave saw Ethan Page defeat Je’Von Evans, Shawn Spears and reigning champion Shawn Spears to win the NXT Title. Williams had hit both Evans and Page with his Trick Shot, causing Page to fall on Evans for the pin while Spears held Williams back. This marks the first title reign for Page, who only debuted in NXT in May in a surprise appearance.

It was a big one. Check out Page’s win, comments, and debut:

Opinion: That was certainly a surprise and it was a positive one. Williams was presented as the better man who got caught by the rules of the match. This lets Page become the champion who is in over his head and could get beaten at any time, which makes things a bit more exciting. It also doesn’t hurt Williams in the slightest and we should be in for a good rematch down the line.

What did you think of the title change? How will Page do as champion? Let us know in the comments below.
