Hand it over. There are all kinds of titles and championships in wrestling and it can make a big difference when one of them changes hands. Some of them do so more than others, but it can still be a major moment when someone wins one for the first time. That was the case this week, as a wrestler picked up his first singles championship, albeit with some help from his friend.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: REVIEW: In Your House #19: D-Generation X: The Stable Show
This week on AEW Collision, Luchasaurus defeated Wardlow to win the TNT Title, the first singles title of his AEW career. Luchasaurus pinned Wardlow after his manager Christian Cage hit Wardlow in the head with a camera stolen from a ringside photographer. This marks the end of Wardlow’s third reign as champion, tying him with Sammy Guevara and Cody Rhodes for the most in the title’s history.
It was a big one. Check out the title match, plus the new champ in action:
Opinion: As strange as it is to see Wardlow losing again, the title could mean something for Luchasaurus. If nothing else, it is hard to imagine the feud being over with one match, as Wardlow has something to come after again. That being said, Wardlow losing the title over and over is an odd way to go, and hopefully it isn’t something that happens again so soon if/when he wins it back.
What do you think of the title change? How will Luchasaurus do as champion? Let us know in the comments below.
