Here comes a big one. With less than a month to go before the Royal Rumble, it is time to start setting up the card. Of course there is already the big namesake matches on the card, but that leaves a lot of spots to be filled in. The problem is that if you have sixty people in two matches, your roster options are a bit limited. That can mean bringing in outsiders, which is what WWE seems to be doing.

In addition to the Royal Rumbles themselves, it is traditional to have the World Titles defended at the pay per view. The Royal Rumble is known for having some of the less dramatic title matches on the pay per view calendar but there are still some very good choices out there. Now it seems that we know where the show is going and it might get some people annoyed.

I think this counts. Check out where things seem to be heading:

Goldberg challenges Drew McIntyre to Royal Rumble showdown: Raw, Jan. 4, 2021

After successfully defending the WWE Title in the main event of this week’s Monday Night Raw, Drew McIntyre was confronted by Goldberg, who made a surprise return to the company. Goldberg talked about McIntyre disrespecting the legends in attendance on the show and suggested a match at the Royal Rumble. Goldberg also knocked McIntyre off his feet to end the show without a match being officially made.

Opinion: I’m not sure what is going to happen at the Royal Rumble but this is an odd choice. I understand the idea of Goldberg as the next challenger, but what is he talking about with McIntyre and the legends? One of the biggest storylines of 2020 was McIntyre standing up for the legends against Randy Orton and McIntyre spoke respectfully of Hulk Hogan on the show. It is a very odd way to go, but they certainly seem to have a match ready to go.
