He deserved it. AEW had one of the biggest nights in its history over the weekend with its fourth annual Double Or Nothing event. The show was a star studded card, capped off by CM Punk defeating Hangman Page in the show’s main event. The title change was the only one on the show and felt like an important moment. It turns out that the night wasn’t over just yet.

Following the end of the show, Punk grabbed a microphone and thanked the fans for coming to the show and their support over the years. FTR came to the ring to celebrate with Punk, who talked about how the fans helped make them the best in the world. Punk also thanked his wife, AJ Lee, and was put on FTR’s shoulders to celebrate to officially end the show and the night.

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that makes for a special ending to the show and it gave the fans a nice sendoff. Punk winning the title really is one of the best things that AEW could have done and it could be quite the important moment’s in the show’s history. I’m not sure if it makes the most sense at the moment, but Page should be fine with whatever he is going to be doing going forward.

What do you think of Punk’s win? Will he work with FTR on television? Let us know in the comments below.
