Welcome back. NXT has been quite the game changer for WWE as it offers wrestlers a starting foothold in the promotion. Wrestlers will often move up through NXT and onto the main roster, but you will occasionally see a former NXT star make a return for one reason or another. Such a cameo can be quite the moment and we got another one of them this week in a nice surprise.

The main event of this week’s NXT saw Grayson Waller replace Ilja Dragunov against Trick Williams. Late in the match, Williams’ friend Carmelo Hayes came to the ring to accidentally distract Williams. As the referee was trying to get rid of Hayes, SmackDown’s Kevin Owens came to the ring to attack Waller, resulting in Williams picking up the win. Owens, a former NXT Champion, has made some cameo returns to NXT over the years.
It was a nice surprise. Check out Owens’ appearance, comments after the match, and previous time in NXT:
Opinion: If you ignore the question of why Owens was there in the first place when there was no reason to believe that Waller was going to be in action, this was a fun moment. Owens has been around NXT multiple times over the years and it is cool to see him making a cameo like this one. It would be nice to see him show up again in the future and I’m sure he’ll be dealing with Waller again soon enough.
What do you think of the cameo? Who is the best NXT star of all time? Let us know in the comments below.
