That’s some heat. One of the most difficult things to do in wrestling is to get fans to dislike you. This can be even harder when a wrestler has a following with the fans and want to cheer them in the first place. There are certain ways to get around this though, and one of the better ones was on display over the weekend in front of a certain wrestler’s hometown crowd.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Angering The Boss: Former WWE Star Reveals Why Vince McMahon Ejected Him From An Arena
Over the weekend, WWE held a live event in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, featuring hometown star Shayna Baszler teaming with Rhea Ripley to defeat Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez. During the match, the fans cheered for Baszler to be tagged in. Once Baszler was tagged in, she ducked a clothesline and immediately tagged back to Ripley, leaving the fans angry with her. Baszler has been teaming with Ronda Rousey in recent weeks, though Rousey is currently injured.
Baszler is a star in the ring. Check out her way to anger the crowd as well as her on neutral footing:
Opinion: That is a rather impressive effort from Baszler, who managed to turn a happy crowd into a bunch of people ready to boo her. It can be difficult to make this work but Baszler went with such a simple strategy and it worked well. I could go for more of Baszler on her own, but for now her association with Rousey is working out well enough as Baszler is getting some nice focus.
What did you think of Baszler’s action? What will she be doing at WrestleMania 39? Let us know in the comments below.
