It’s over. WrestleMania 40 has come and gone and the big question coming into the show was whether or not Cody Rhodes could finally finish his story by defeating Roman Reigns to win the WWE Universal Title. The main event of Night One made things even harder as the match was under Bloodline Rules but as it turned out, Rhodes had some friends of his own in his corner.

In the main event of WrestleMania 40 Night Two, Rhodes defeated Reigns to win the title, ending Reigns’ run at 1316 days. Rhodes won the match after hitting three consecutive Cross Rhodes to score the pin. The match saw interference from Jimmy Uso, Solo Sikoa and the Rock on Reigns’ side while Rhodes had Jey Uso, John Cena and the Undertaker. This is Rhodes’ first World Title in WWE.

Opinion: They had to do this. There was no other ending to WrestleMania 40 than having Rhodes FINALLY defeat Reigns and become the champion. That is exactly what WWE did and it made the show feel like the perfect way to wrap things up. I’m not sure what Rhodes is going to do as champion, but WWE made him feel like the ultimate conquering hero here and that is what they should have done.
